Obviously it isn't a skill that you wake up with, on a random Monday morning. You need to develop it, as you spend more time on fabrics and learning on how to understand them.

  • You can take up any stream for your class 12 board examination or its equivalent.
  • Textile design students can take up courses such as Industrial designing, Bachelors of Arts in Design, Bachelors of Arts in Textile, Bachelors of Fine Arts.
  • The students will study the basics of elements such as texture, shapes and colors.
  • You can take up a Masters in the same course following your undergraduate program.
  • Once you are done with your academics, you need to get into the field.

What are the skills required?

  • Excellent understanding of fabric.
  • Knowledge of color, shapes, sizes, texture of different combination of fabric.
  • Good communication skills to handle your clients and team.
  • Teamwork is of high importance,as you will always find working with many people simultaneously for each project.
  • Understanding of the need of the client, and transforming the same into sketches so that you can get a better idea.
